About Us

Saracen Ventures is a private holding company, capable of engaging in a variety of corporate structures ranging from joint ventures to principal investments. Our focus is primarily in strategic sectors that are aligned with the background of the group founders, who have historically been engaged in commodities, energy, maritime and construction.

Saracen Ventures’ primary market is MENA, with a special focus on Iraq. We are actively developing a variety of new ventures and greenfield project finance initiatives, designed to contribute to the redevelopment of Iraq’s domestic economy following many years of conflict.

Additionally, we opportunistically participate in other sectors and geographies, including but not limited to new technologies and digital media, as well as health & wellness.

Saracen Ventures was established by Laith Allawi, who has over 15 years experience in project finance, venture capital and private equity, having acted as both principal and advisor. Laith is knowledgable about the history of Iraq and passionate about helping the country prosper in future. Beyond his role managing Saracen Ventures’ activities, he is an advisor to several other related ventures, including the AgriTech committee, established by the Iraq British Business Council. He is also a senior advisor to 1001, an Iraqi streaming platform, as well as a member of the Iraq Angel Investor Network.
